About me
Soňa Borovská is a master's student in the Studio of Photography Restoration at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, studying under the direction of Dr. Janka Blaško Križanová. She specializes in the conservation and restoration of photographic materials, building on a strong foundation in restoration gained during high school. She completed her bachelor’s degree in the Paper Restoration and New Media Studio. She also broadened her experience internationally, participating in a study exchange at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, Portugal. She has completed internships at significant institutions, including the Archaeological Museum of the Slovak National Museum, where she worked with metal artefacts, and the East Slovak Museum's restoration studios. She also contributed to an archival conservation project at the National Library in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2022, focusing on the preservation of acetate negatives. Currently, she is actively involved in the PHELETYPIA project and is working on her diploma thesis on the experimental reconstruction of historical daguerreotype processes.
